On November 13, a quintet of next-generation musicians will perform at the MASA jazz club, presenting a program dedicated to two prominent figures in jazz history: singer Nancy Wilson and saxophonist Cannonball Adderley.
The album Nancy Wilson/Cannonball Adderley was released in 1962. It features a blend of pure, gentle vocals, energetic instrumental playing, and the warm tone of the saxophone. The album gained recognition beyond the jazz community, reaching number 30 on the US Billboard Top LPs chart. Its sound combines the rhythms of swing, a blues sensibility, and the improvisational freedom characteristic of bebop.
On this evening, the young musicians will explore the album’s repertoire, revisiting its original sound and the jazz aesthetics of that era.
